Self-care Saturday: How I relax

Anyone who knows me knows I love my alone time. I tend to hibernate and/ or avoid the world for a couple hours a day to recharge. It’s an introvert thing. I would like to say all of these are perfect self-care things for everyone but I know that’s not how things work. People find different ways to re-energize themselves. Some of my friends do this by going and hanging out with people.

Reading

I mean…. are any of us really surprised? I mean this is over half of what I talk about here. Generally just curling up with a hot drink or a blanket and a good thriller is my happy place. I try so hard to put aside some time every single day to get at least a chapter read each day.

Face masks

Having a face mask on for a while and then taking a semi-long hot shower and washing it off and putting on sweats and a baggy sweatshirt is the best feeling in the world. If you haven’t done this in a while definitely do it. I don’t even do this because my skin needs it, it just makes my skin feel new again. Since my skin isn’t super picky I do want to try making my own face mask once I run out of store bought ones.

Coffee shops

This is one of those things that not everyone can do but I love going to coffee shops to work on things. There’s just something about being near people but having literally zero socializing to do. And it’s nice to get out of the house sometimes.

Working out

This isn’t even a relatively new thing but it’s something I go in and out of the habit. This is a major stress reliever and I feel a lot more energetic after my workouts and that tends to seep into the rest of my life. I can tell when I haven’t worked out in a while. Also this has decreased my migraines so much. I was getting headaches like four days a week and it’s down to one or none.

What’s your favorite way to de-stress or to re-energize yourself?
