I have seen so many people do posts like this and eventually I started thinking about it. I know I’ve done one about some authors I know I’ll love but I haven’t done specific books. I have this thing where I put books off because I’m worried that they won’t live up to my expectations. I know some other people are the same way about the ends of series.
A couple things I didn’t want to include: books people have recommended to me, books that were on my 2018 priority list (they were all my 5 star predictions I made at the beginning of 2018. I also try to go into books with zero expectations so these are just ones that have been sticking out on my bookshelves and calling to me recently.
Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan
This has been on my TBR since July 2015. Partially because I kept getting it from the library and then I’m like what if I hate it? Anyway, I now have a copy and as long as I’m in the mood for a cute contemporary I’m sure I’ll love it.
IQ by Joe Ide
This one I saw when it first came out but didn’t pick it up until I saw it at a library book sale. That was when I finally read the synopsis. I don’t normally think going in thrillers, mysteries and crime novels are going to be five stars because I am more likely to overthink and be disappointed. However, this one sounds so different than anything I’ve read.
Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel
This one has been on my radar since I finished Dark Matter and The Martian. I’m trying to get into more sci-fi and this one popped out at me for the title thinking it was about space. It’s not. It’s a post-apocolyptic world where this group travels to keep the arts alive. I’ve heard nothing but good things about it so I’m excited to get to it.
Maybe in Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Ried
I read Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. This book is about young adults trying to make sense of the world and find their places after school and job searches and how one night can make a difference. Need I say more?
Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes
This actually sounds like a book I’ll get a lot out of. It’s about how Shonda Rhimes would say no to a lot of things because introversion and all that but then decides to start saying yes to everything.
I am so happy to see Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares on this list. You gotta let me know how it ends up being. I also really want to read Station Eleven. I have heard such amazing things about it. Maybe a buddy read in the future ayy.

I just told you to add it ayy. Yes I hope so too. There’s a book I just discovered called One Day In December. I really want to read it in December but I have a couple other books I want to read.
