Bout of Books and May TBR

It’s my eighth BoutofBooks and this year I’m not setting a specific goal for the readathon. I have a super long drive the week before so I don’t know how far in my monthly TBR I’ll get and I’ve been in a super mood-reading mood lately.

However, I do have a couple group reads I need to get to this month! This list was originally three books long and then on May 1st through the 4th a ton of my books from the library came in and I have a giant physical book stack from the library. These things happen. It’s fine.

Also my stack has officially reached past the height of acceptance. I’m considering whether to count the first GOT books as separate or all as one. Also I just sold a paper bag full of books and have another box somewhere to be donated so I don’t know if I’m actually going to donate any off the pile. My challenge my rules. But I do want to read a couple off the pile.

War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy

I am finally getting to this one. I’m bringing this and one or two other books on the road trip so hopefully I make a dent in it. I’m reading this with Luna and Amy and I’m 99% sure I’m the only one who hasn’t started it yet.

The Hiding Place by CJ Tudor

I’m buddy reading this with Reg. We’re attempting to finally get some of our buddy reading list done because that hasn’t been touched in a long time. We read The Chalk Man when it came out and I remember really enjoying it and I got major Stephen King vibes but I don’t remember much more than that.

Behind Her Eyes By Sarah Pinborough

This is the pick for the group read this month and I’ve been meaning to read this one since I picked up the ARC of it like two years ago…. it’s in my ARC pile of shame.

The Dark Net by Jamie Bartlett

This actually wasn’t going to be on my TBR. I started it in March and then put it down for the OWLs and I was planning on picking it up later and after I finished my last read I decided to pick it up again right away.

My Lovely Wife by Samantha Downing

This was a book Reg told me about and when I was on the Axios360 app for my library I saw it was there and decided to get it now instead of waiting for my Overdrive hold to come in. Axios360 is a new app my library has that basically you can only check out one book at a time and I don’t think holds exist. You can just put titles on a wishlist. Anyway; I already finished this one.

After by Anna Todd

This came in at my library so I read it in a weekend…. yeah. I was curious. My review is here.

Red Queen by Christina Henry

I read Alice at the tail end of last month and loved it so much I went out and bought the next one right away. I’ve already started it and I’m loving it. However this one doesn’t have chapter breaks or larger line breaks which makes it a little more intimidating to pick up. Basically I have 100 pages until the next break.

Everything I never Told You by Celeste Ng

Reg sent me this book because I’ve been meaning to read it since it came out. So many people have talked about it and I actually enjoy the women’s lit or more domestic books sometimes.

How to Win Friends and Influence people by Dale Canegie

I follow Brandy on YouTube and her and her husband keep saying this book changed their lives and the way they interact with people so I decided to put the audiobook on hold and it just came in.

How to Walk Away by Katherine Center

Courtney actually recommended this book to me when I needed a break from thrillers and it just got pushed back in my mind because I knew I was on the wait list for the audio at the library. I’m determined to get to this one before it’s returned because I’ve been meaning to read it since I got the ARC…..

Dune by Frank Herbert

I really wanted to get to this one this month because it’s the big book read for Emily’s book club and I’m trying to participate in some of them but my TBRs are already so long. It probably won’t happen but I’m putting it on here anyway.

What books are on your TBR this month? Have you read any of these?

  1. I bought Everything I Never Told You a few months ago and I told myself, “I WILL read this sooner rather than later. Ha! I have since moved from the seen TBR pile to the unseen pile. That’s not good. Heavy sigh. One day I’ll get to War and Peace, but first I have to finish Les Mis. Thought a year long Les Mis reading challenge would be easy. It’s not, especially when there are other books you want to read that don’t plod along.

Anyway, happy reading and safe travels.

  2. 😬 that happens to so many of my books! I wanted an audiobook and that one was in so I’m switching between the physical and audio. So far I’m really enjoying it!
A couple people I follow are doing #MiserablesMay on Twitter and are reading it completely this month!

Let's talk!
