As I mentioned earlier I’m in the middle of a million and one books. I’m loving all of them, some I have to be in the mood for, some I need to reread parts of and others I just pick up randomly and read them. I want to finish all of these this year so I’ll probably do a 24-hour readathon sometime to make progress.
Without further ado, my bookish pile of shame:
The Godfather by Mario Puzo – One of my friends asked me to borrow this one and I wanted to read it first. So I’m working on binging it in every spare moment. I wanted to finish it before the weekend but I went out for sushi and watched Thursday night TV instead.
War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy – This is a year-long buddy read with Luna and Amy. I may be the only one not done with it. We stopped checking in on each other about this specific book. We talk about all the other buddy reads I’m behind on instead.
The Testaments by Margaret Atwood – I got this book the day after it came out and started it and then I put it in my pile. I really want to finish this one and I’ll probably start reading it later I finish The Godfather and Year of Yes.
After We Fell by Anna Todd – I started reading this series because it got a bit of hype and ended up hate reading it. (As you can see here). And then the second one wasn’t as bad because I knew I was hate reading them but this is number three and it’s still the same old, same old and it’s getting tiring.
Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes – This was the book I was focusing on before I started The Godfather. Anyone that knows me knows I love Grey’s Anatomy and HTGAWM. Rhimes is the mastermind behind those. And I was doing an experiment and saying yes to more this year without actually reading the book that spurred that so I figured it was time.
The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Turton Stuart – This is my IRL book club pick for October and I’m listening to it on audio. I mentioned that and I got THE LOOK. That judge-y look. But I’m doing it anyway. Life is hectic.
The Dark Net: Inside the Digital Underworld by Jamie Bartlett – This is a nonfiction about the Dark Web and it’s so interesting and I’ve been in the mood for it whenever I don’t have it with me. So basically I should just start carrying it with me everywhere.
We Wish to Inform You That Tomorrow We Will Be Killed with Our Families by Philip Gourevitch – I don’t know if I’m going to finish this one. It takes forever to read and I’m pretty sure this is what led to my slump. The topic is interesting but it wasn’t holding my attention and I could probably read a couple others in that time but I haven’t decided for sure. If I don’t finish it by the new year I’ll probably unhaul.
The Favorite Daughter by Kaira Rouda – This was the buddy read for last month and I got a chapter or two into it. The writing style is a little weird but I get why it’s done. I’m really hoping to get farther in it but I feel like it’s going to be one of those books I read in short snippets.
I think that’s all of them… unless I’m forgetting any. This is what happens when I get into a massive slump.
I still need to read Margaret Atwood’s first book in this series. Also, don’t feel pressured about War and Peace you have until the end of the year!

I have it on my Kindle since it is a prime read, I am hoping to get to it before the year is done. 🤞

Google Play has a free audio version where every couple chapters is a different person. I think it’s just people who want to do it maybe? I’m going to listen to the chapters I’ve read and then start reading again.

That sounds very interesting, but a good way to jump back in.

That’s how I got through the last 1/4 of Count of Monte Cristo (my attention span had been dwindling). I followed along in my book for that one so I could retain more.
