How to handle a busy month

For some reason October is my busiest month every year and this year was no different. I participated in Hacktoberfest, Blogtober, was planning two trips, had family in town multiple weekends etc.

I guess the short answer is I don’t. But here’s the long answer:

Giving up things. This time I accidentally gave up the gym. Other times it’s hanging out with friends. There’s the quote (and I know I’ll go down a rabbit hole if I look it up) but it basically says if you say you’re too busy for something you really mean it’s not a priority and I kept telling myself that every time I skipped the gym this month and felt bad about it every single time.

Time management. This goes along with giving things up in that you decide what’s important. But also you decide what spare time you have lying around, like I would scroll through my phone during lunch so I started writing posts instead, whether it be blog posts or instagram posts. I also take that time to respond to everything.

App timers. This has been one of my favorite things about my new phone. I can set timers for how long I can be on an app and then it’s an ordeal to change it. I have most things set for an hour. I don’t set timers on things that can be used for reading, music or podcasts.

Less sleep. I’m not going to lie, I’ve only gotten like five hours of sleep a night on average this month. I try to get more but I end up just laying awake trying to fall asleep.

Supportive friends.ย I honestly wouldn’t be able to do half the amount of things I do if I didn’t have such a great group of friends. They’re always there for me to vent to or go out for drinks and destress.

The need to brag. Yes, this is a legit reason I do things and I’m not ashamed to say it. Probably the wrong reason to do stuff but oh well.

Streamline things. Has anyone noticed I haven’t used any new photos for blogtober? That’s because I write and schedule on my lunch break and post later that day. I’m not in an area to take photos so I just use one that works. It probably hasn’t helped the stats that much though….

What motivates you? What have you accomplished this month?

  2. I gotta say the need to brag really is a strong one ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ but hey, whatever works to keep us afloat!

Though i do my exercices at home and not at a gym, it got out the window for me too this monthโ€ฆ. because well, i ran out of spoons for it after working 6days a week for a whole month (plus 1-2 week more) and then I had a 10hrs shift that didnโ€™t help ๐Ÿ˜‚ I feel soo bad about it too.. but damn, at that point itโ€™d be kinda crazy to push it.

Hereโ€™s hoping November go smooth for us!๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

  3. Good, now I have a list to go off of. ๐Ÿ˜‚ I think the things that motivate me is being able to check this off a list, I get motivated by being productive. Which, honestly seems weird to me, but it is too. Also, first this, then I can do this thing will help me get through stuff too.

This month I did most of my study units, now I need to do a pretest and then focus my studying this upcoming week. I also finished a ton of stuff at work and got around to cleaning up my shared office.
