Thoughts on Wake Up Sunshine: All Time Low

308916b807723e2a81ab207891021f5a.900x900x1I’ve been obsessed with All Time Low for years and I’ve actually had the chance to see them live back in college! Their new album came out so I decided to do the same thing I did with Halsey. Will this become a thing? Maybe. I enjoy doing them.

I’m starting this one out before they release the entire album because I’m impatient to listen to them and some of them are on YouTube already. These will be marked with *.

Overall I loved the album. I’ll have it on repeat for a while and put my favorites on my playlist.

Some Kind of Disaster*

I was jamming out. This is such a classic All Time Low bop. And it’s definitely already going to be stuck in my head.

Sleeping In*

The sound effects at the beginning? 10/10. This song is the embodiment of waking up and having to drag yourself out of bed and away from your person. Except upbeat which is so much better than the sappy songs.

Getaway Green*

This is one I’ll probably be in the minority of. I didn’t love it as much as everyone else probably will but there’s nothing actually wrong with it. It just didn’t resonate with me as much as their music generally does.

Melancholy Kaleidoscope*

So often when I’m listening to songs for the first time only a line or two will capture my attention and as I listen more I pick up more and more. This song the line was “Can’t be one hundred if you’re only giving ninety-five.”

Trouble Is*

Out of the songs they released ahead of time this one is my favorite. I know it’s probably just life but this song reminds me of If These Sheets Were The States. Take that as you will.

Wake Up, Sunshine

I really don’t think they’ve created a feel-good confidence boosting song before. Someone let me know if I’m wrong.

Monsters (feat. blackbear)

I think this was the song I was most looking forward to. I like some of blackbear’s songs so I was looking forward to how they’d combine. I was just jamming to it and all of a sudden I realized some of it was “idfc” by blackbear. It’s basically that song except by All Time Low.

Pretty Venom (Interlude)

This is a completely different vibe than the rest of the album. It is a full length song and it’s perfect to just chill to just lay around to.

Favorite Place (feat. The Band CAMINO)

This entire album is just pointing out how long it’s been since I’ve been in a relationship and I feel attacked. That being said, it’s more chill than the first half and I’m wondering if it’ll keep up with that. If so I’m totally here for it.

I needed this song like 3 months ago and I hope someone else hears it exactly when they need it.

January Gloom (Seasons pt 1)

This song feels nostalgic for some reason with the background and notes sung. There are a couple parts that remind me of older songs by them and Panic!

That bridge though.  Again, this reminded  me of one of their songs from one of their previous albums and its bothering me so much because I know it’s one I listen to a lot. I’ll edit this post if I think of it.

Glitter and Crimson

Excuse me while I go listen to this on repeat for absolutely no reason. I just like the way it sounds.

Summer Daze (Seasons pt 2)

This actually made me kind of sad because it’s about the ending of summer and a summer fling but the way things are going it doesn’t look like we’ll have much of a summer.

Basement Noise

I’ll be honest, there’s always one or two songs on their albums I don’t like and this is the one. It’s super repetitive.

Have you listened yet? What are your favorite songs on the album?

  1. I used to love All Time Low! I stopped listening to them a couple of albums back but might look into them again.
